  • Chesterton Academy of Mater Dei is a joyfully Catholic, classical high school dedicated to providing a rigorous, integrated curriculum rooted in the Catholic faith. Our mission is to prepare students for college and for life, forming them intellectually, spiritually, and morally.

  • Our school is opening with a provisional accreditation from the Chesterton Schools Network, which will perform regular audits on our school. As the school follows the policies, procedures, and curriculum provided, it will become fully accredited after all audits are complete. All Schools in the Network are accredited through the National Association of Private Catholic and Independent Schools (NAPCIS). Additionally, many Chesterton Academies have received accreditation through regional accrediting bodies and are recognized by the Cardinal Newman Society’s Catholic Education Honor Roll.

  • Our classical curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, articulate expression, and a deep understanding of the liberal arts and sciences, equipping students with the skills and knowledge necessary for success in higher education. Graduates have been accepted into a wide range of colleges and universities, demonstrating the effectiveness of our educational approach.

  • A typical day begins with morning prayers, followed by eight class periods, and concludes with school dismissal in the afternoon. The schedule includes time for Mass, lunch, and a variety of academic subjects.

  • As a new school, we are excited about the potential for offering a wide variety of extracurricular activities as we grow. Once we have enough students to form teams and clubs, we plan to offer sports such as soccer, tennis, volleyball, basketball, cross country, and track etc.

    In addition to athletics, we hope to provide opportunities for students to explore their interests and talents through activities such as:

        •    Pro-Life Group

        •    Yearbook and Newspaper

        •    Chess Club

        •    Gardening Club

    Our goal is to provide a rich array of extracurricular options to help students grow in community, leadership, and personal development. As we continue to establish ourselves, these opportunities will expand, and we look forward to shaping programs that reflect the unique talents and interests of our students.

  • While deeply rooted in Catholic tradition, Chesterton Academy welcomes students of all faith backgrounds who seek an education in line with our mission and values.

  • Tuition rates are set annually, and we strive to keep them affordable through the generosity of our donors. Financial aid and merit-based scholarships are available to families who qualify. For the 2024-2025 school year, the tuition rate is $9,300, with additional fees. Please contact admissions for more information.

  • Upon enrollment, students are assigned to one of four houses, fostering a sense of community, mentorship, and healthy competition. Siblings are placed in the same house, and students remain in their house throughout their time at the academy.

    Inspired by the traditional English universities, each house provides an opportunity for students to grow in community and in virtue. Every year, each house competes for the White Horse Cup. They can win points throughout the year through fun competition and by demonstrating virtue in school.

    The house names; Augustine, Ambrose, Chrysostom and Athanasius are named after the four doctors of the church that can be found holding up the Chair of Peter in St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome.

  • Yes, we welcome transfer students from various educational backgrounds, including public, private, homeschool, and online environments. We work closely with each transfer student to ensure a smooth transition and support their success at Chesterton Academy.

  • Yes. The tradition of school uniforms goes back to Medieval times when caps and gowns were required at universities. All students, regardless of background, would dress alike, and all would show an outward sign of their dedication to the task of learning together within the community. From the very beginning, uniforms have been in support of three goals: modesty, professionalism, and community or school spirit. Our uniform policy aims at the same three goals

  • Chesterton Academy students come from a range of educational backgrounds, including homeschooling, public schools, pariochial K-8 schools, charter schools, and online schools. The best preparation you can give your children is to encourage them to read great books.

  • This high school resides within the Diocese of Baker, and is supported by the Bishop. However, it is important to note that it is an independent, parent-led Classical high school grounded in the Catholic faith. We look forward to a continued partnership with the Diocese, providing an option for a continued catholic education through the most formative years. 

  • As of Fall 2024, there are 62 Network schools operating in the U.S. and internationally, with a sister school in Italy.
